Lake Colby Watershed Action Plan

Lake Colby is a 310-acre lake in the Town of Harrietstown in Franklin County. The lake is a popular destination for swimming, fishing, and paddling. In 2023, Lake Colby was selected to develop a watershed action plan through a grant supported by the Lake Champlain Basin Program and NEIWPCC. The lake has high chloride concentrations due to road salt and elevated nutrient concentrations. The lake also had its first reported harmful algal bloom (HAB) in 2022, and invasive Eurasian watermilfoil was first documented in 1999.

What is a watershed action plan?

A watershed action plan is a concise, action-oriented plan for the protection or improvement of the water quality of a lake or stream.
